Climate Change and Sea Level Rise in Tidewater Virginia

February 17 in Virginia Beach

The Princeton Club of Hampton Roads invites all Harvard alums and their guests for the Friday, Feb. 17th "Evening at the Brock Center" with Professor Gabriel Vecchi, speaking on Climate Change, Sea Level Rise and Local Impact!  Note:  The date has been changed from Feb 3 to Feb 17, due to a death in the speaker's family.

Are you interested the latest scientific view on climate predictions?  What will sea level rise do to Hampton Roads?  What impact will it have on you?  The Princeton Club of Hampton Roads invites you to a very special evening event on the topic of climate change, sea level rise, and the impact to our local region. We have the privilege of hosting Prof. Gabriel Vecchi from the Princeton Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences department. He comes to the university from NOAA where he worked at the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory. Prof. Vecchi is an expert on climate prediction models. In addition, we will also be joined by Thomas Quattlebaum, Sea Level Rise Fellow with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The event will take place at the newly opened Brock Environmental Center, which produces 83 percent more energy than it uses and is the first commercial building in the continental U.S. permitted to capture and treat rainfall for use as drinking water.

Location:

Brock Environmental Center, 3663 Marlin Bay Dr, Virginia Beach, VA 23455

The evening will flow as follows:

6:00 - 6:30 -- Tour of the Brock Center

6:30 - 6:45 -- Reception and welcome

6:45 -- 7:30 -- Prof. Vecchi on climate change predictions
