Our All-Ivy Alumni Mixer starts at 6:00pm, followed by Craig Lambert's talk at 6:45. After the talk, those who wish to stay for dinner will walk a couple of blocks to Tarrant's Cafe at 1 W. Broad Street for dinner at 7:45. There will be a cash bar at the Commonwealth Club and you can order off the menu at Tarrant's. Lecture Description:
With many comic examples, Craig Lambert shows how Harvard comedy writers revolutionized American humor, moving it from Carol Burnett to David Letterman. Starting with National Lampoon Magazine, a cadre of sardonic Crimson minds brought us Saturday Night Live, Animal House, Letterman, The Simpsons, Conan O'Brien, Al Franken, and much more.
Craig Lambert’s Bio:
Craig Lambert is Deputy Editor at Harvard Magazine, where he has been a staff writer and editor since 1988. His work has appeared in many publications, including Sports Illustrated, Town & Country, and the New York Times. His book Mind Over Water: Lessons on Life from the Art of Rowing (Houghton Mifflin), a personal meditation on his experience as an oarsman, appeared in 1998. Nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, it remains in print in paperback and in German translation. Craig received his BA from Harvard in 1969 and his Ph.D. in sociology, also from Harvard, in 1978.
